On February 1, 2023, Douglas Judson wrote to the the Ontario Legislative Assembly's Standing Committee on Justice Policy on behalf of the Federation of Ontario Law Associations (FOLA) to make submissions on the Committee's review of the bail system.
FOLA's letter endorsed the comments made by the Criminal Lawyers' Association, but also stressed that those facing bail hearings are legally innocent and have a Charter right to reasonable bail.
